Sweater Weather

I'm all about the loosey goosey sweater ... and I've had this one for over 4 years. It's my go to sweater when I want to stuff my face at a thanksgiving feast or go to the theater with my honey. I love comfort and this sweater hits all the marks, it's large like a parachute but has some class with the half turtle neck detail and it's in black which is slimming. Haha! No amount of black can make this sweater slimming so what I like to do is tuck the front part into my jeans so I don't look like I'm wearing a trash bag. My jeans are from my favorite brand Levis and no I didn't buy them ripped, they naturally ripped over time and I stopped wearing them. When the ripped knee became a trend I busted these babies right out. I added some heels and a clear clutch to make this outfit look a little more polished. I recently bought the clutch at Forever 21 and it was under $20.00 I couldn't pass it up. I almost made a clutch like this because I wanted one for the longest time but I got lazy. I'm so happy I found it. My husband ask's me why do I want everyone to see whats in my bag but I explained that people will only see what I want them to see because of the black pouch inside the clear bag. Hope you enjoyed this laid back look.

Shirley

Trends & Your Personal Style

The 70's trend is out in full force with fringe everything, bell bottom pants, lots & lots of suede, & the skinny scarf. Just with everything that makes it's way from the catwalk to the sidewalk it's very important to stay true to yourself when incorporating these trends into your wardrobe. I'm not a big fan of the bell bottom pants because they make my legs look wider than they actually are and who wants added weight to there figure... not this chick over here!! If your style doesn't really vibe with the current trend then pick out a few inexpensive pieces that you can incorporate into your wardrobe like I did here with the skinny scarf and suede boots. A little 70's with a shirt dress and a trench = Shirley's style. Always stay true to what you like and never force anything because in the end you won't feel 100% confident and it will come across.

Shirley

Oh My Gaia

I know, I know ... what am I doing wearing a short little dress in the middle of Fall?!?!? Well, in my defense I wore this dress this past weekend on Halloween and it was a very warm day. It's my go to dress when I feel frumpy, bloated, fat, skinny, light and everything in between.  It's the most flattering dress I own and I wish I would have blogged about it sooner. Now, enough about the dress, lets talk about the most unique and perfect bag I own. I first saw this beauty on my favorite blogger Jenny from Margo and Me ... I automatically knew I had to have this bag but my second thought was its  going to be out of my price range because Jenny is a high end blogger.  I decided to check out the company Cult Gaia anyway and the bag was actually super affordable. Every single time I wear this bag I get so many compliments, even random guys will stop and feel the need to tell me what a cool bag I'm wearing. That's when you know you have a winner!!

Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for more goodies to come!!

XO,
Shirley

Wraps & Things

I guess I should be happy its finally starting to cool down but to be honest the only thing I like about cold weather is the fashion. I'm so excited to dust off all of my coats and boots because I enjoy being covered up. I still like to show off my legs from time to time but for the most part I dress like an eskimo in 65 degree weather. I'm not exaggerating ... just ask my husband. He thinks I'm crazy! Today's outfit might be reminiscent of an older post called Wrap, Scarf & Blanket but the white snowflake version. I really love the pattern on this wrap, it reminds me a lot of Burberry for a fraction of the price. The key to looking expensive without spending a ton of money is knowing what your looking for... educate yourself on what the expensive brands are making and find similar items. I do this so often and I'm always happy I do because once the fad is over its on to the next fab piece.

Shirley
