How can one man's words have such an impact on so many people across the nation??
After listening to the recording of Donald Sterling I felt so many emotions. I was in shock because he is the owner of my favorite team, the Clippers. The team is approximately 90% African American and our coach is African American too. I was heart broken for my team because I knew this would shake them to the core and bring out all of these Clipper haters in full force. I was hurt because I am a minority and I did not like what he said about African Americans. Racism is never OK and should never be encouraged or ignored. I hope the NBA takes charge and sets a precedent with this situation and makes it clear that racism will not be tolerated in the league.
I have read so many articles on how the Clippers should have not played on Sunday in protest of Sterling's remarks. The article went as far as to call them cowards. I completely disagree with the article because this is not a one team issue anymore this is a nation wide issue. The Clipper's play for their fans and as a fan I support my team 100%. This brings me to today's post. In support of my team I am wearing my Clipper's team shirt inside-out to show I support my team but I do not support the Clipper name until Sterling is no longer the owner of the team. This is my silent protest against racism. Stand up for what you believe in no matter what anybody thinks!!
