My best friend emailed me today about dress shopping for the wedding. She included some articles I must read before we go shopping because she doesn't want to be unprepared. Ha ha, she doesn't want to be unprepared what about me?!?! I really appreciate her pushing me to do these things because if it were up to me I would start shopping next year. I read a few interesting things like don't take your whole wedding party to go dress shopping because not everyone will agree on one dress (and god knows that's true). You should just take your maid of honor, mom, and maybe sister because they are some of the most important people in your life. They will be honest (painfully honest, sometimes) and will have your best interest at heart. The articles peaked my curiosity and pushed me to start my search for the perfect wedding dress, so naturally I go to David's Bridal. I found a few options I would like to see in person and to remember which ones I admired the most I pinned them to my Pinterest board. Side note, can I just say Pinterest is amazing and keeps me organized or so I think. Here I go into this dress shopping world with a few nuggets of wisdom, wish me luck!! This topic is a great segue into today's outfit the LWD (little white dress).

We always talk about the perfect little black dress (LBD) but I never hear anyone talk about the perfect little white dress (LWD). It's the forgotten essential piece to completing a fashionista's wardrobe, making summer much more stylish and perfect. I found this gem while shopping at Jcpenney (my favorite store, if you couldn't tell) and it originally had these ruffled straps which took away from its appeal. I almost didn't buy the dress, but then I decided to tuck the straps in and it did the trick don't you think? Sometimes you have to play around with clothes because you can transform anything from "not your style" to the piece you have been looking for all your life!! That's exactly what happened to me with this dress. I had been looking for a summery white off the shoulder dress for a few months with no luck but I fell more in love with the strapless look of this dress. I paired it with a gold belt and some beige colored heels to keep the focus on the dress. I felt a flower in the hair was a very appropriate accessory to add a dash of color. I'm going to try and bring this accessory back to life because it's always been one of my favorite trends. Yes that is the Queen Mary, in case you were wondering. TGIF!!!

This past weekend I stumbled upon a documentary on Netflix called "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead" which changed my life and outlook on the food I put in my body. I don't want to spoil it for anyone but it's about this guy named Joe from Australia who has an autoimmune disease which forces him to take a few different pills including steroids. He is sick of being overweight and reliant on pills so he decides to drastically change his life for the better. He flies to New York and plans to juice for 60 days while driving across the country informing people and asking them questions about their eating habits. It has been a life changing movie for David and I which excites me tremendously. I have decided to start my juicing journey this Sunday and I will document everything for anyone who is interested to learn about my experience. I am aiming for 7 to 10 days but we will see what happens. All I ask is that no one judge me because I will need all the support I can get on this hard road to being a healthier women.

Now back to the fashion at hand. I must say I'm really feeling the hawaiian print this summer. It's so bright and cheerful which made it super easy to pair with one of my favorite pink skirts of all time from H&M. I said it in my previous blog post and I will say it again, this skirt is a steal at $14.95. The quality is out of this world and the fabric is so thick and heavy which almost guarantees this piece will last for many years to come. It's no longer available online but I was in H&M last week and I still saw a few left which is shocking!! Since I combined two very loud pieces I felt the need to keep the heels a little quieter which led me to my favorite strappy heels from Shoemint. If you follow me on Instagram then you know I have an unhealthy obsession with heels. But who cares because you only live once!! Until next time fashionistas!!

After an amazing and relaxing vacation, David and I enjoyed last week, I wanted to keep it simple. I gained about 5 pounds because I was a lazy little piglet in Morongo. It's OK because I found these comfy and very flattering mom shorts. You may be wondering what mom shorts are, well I coined the term from mom jeans. We all know how unflattering and unfashionable mom jeans are but I think they have been given a bad wrap. I love the high waisted (above the belly button) look which also makes the butt look disproportionately long and large but that doesn't bother me too much because they are shorts after all. They are very hole-ee but that adds to the laid back comfy look I'm going for. Once again I am wearing my favorite cream colored tank from JCPenney because it's so loose and it gives my little rolls a chance to breath and just chill. I am looking forward to getting back on a healthy and consistent diet because the wedding is vastly approaching and my best friend will be forcing me to try on wedding dresses in a few weeks. Eeep, that will definitely make this upcoming wedding feel that much more real. I'm getting excited just writing this!! Have a lovely weekend everyone!!

David and I decided to take a mini vacation very close to our home because we are currently working on saving up for a wedding. This is why Morongo Casino Resort & Spa was the perfect place to go. It was about an hours drive and very inexpensive. We chose to check in on a Sunday and checkout on Wednesday for a 3 night stay, the approximate total was $450.00. I made a specific request to my fiancé, we must be there when its over 85 degrees so we can take advantage of the amazing pool area. What better time to go than June! We left pretty early on Sunday morning so we could scope out the Cabazon Premium Outlets. What kind of trip would it be if I didn't get to shop a little?!?! Most of the shops had regular prices which was pretty disappointing because I love getting great deals especially if I'm at an outlet. I did find some hidden gems to share with all of you. The first store I stumbled upon with amazing deals was the Kate Spade store where everything was 40% off plus an extra 20% off handbags, wallets, and clothing. The second store was the Coach store which had a huge clearance section where handbags and wallets were an extra 50% off already reduced prices. This is where I bought my mom a beautiful Coach purse for $100.00, original price $378.00. Happy birthday mom!!! The last store that tempted me tremendously was the Gucci store. There was this one specific bag I had been looking at for a few years now and they had it for $680, current price online is $990. It's not a steal but its $300 off for Gucci which is a steal for me! Sad to report I did not buy the bag because we took this vacation to save not to spend on luxury items we don't need.

After the fun detour we finally made it to our destination! We arrived around 1pm and to our surprise there was no line at the check in counter. Like true alcoholics, the first thing we did was hit up the pool with some much needed drinks in hand (j/k not alcoholic's just eager vacationers). We setup up shop right next to the lazy river because it's the best lazy river I've ever been in! The current really takes you around the world and back in 2 seconds, by the world I mean the jacuzzi and water slide which to me is the world when I'm on vacation. After our around the world trip we had built up quite an appetite so we order some treats from the pool bar. I had the best chicken tenders with criss cut fries and loads of ranch while my future hubby had some sliders. I was so beat I couldn't hang for dinner, instead this little fishy took a nap because I had my "I can do what I want I'm on vacation" mentality! I did have a very hearty breakfast at the Serrano Cafe before we did our thing at the pool. My hubby and I enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Potrero Canyon Buffet and it was Mariachi Monday which meant I could eat all the Mexican food my heart desired while listening to the Mariachi Divas. I did gamble a little bit on the machines but it was not my lucky night, on the other hand David won over $150 playing poker, black jack, and the machines. All in all it was a great getaway and I would definitely go back to Morongo. Hope everyone enjoyed my first lifestyle/travel post. If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know in the comments below.

I'm am currently writing to you from Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon. Our time is starting to wind down to an end and it's a bitter sweet feeling. On one hand I had such a relaxing and amazing time eating whatever I wanted and laying by the pool for as long as I wanted with my love but I miss my family at home especially my baby boy Booboo. My mom called me to let me know that he sits by my bedroom door for hours and my little brother sent my a picture of him sleeping under his bed. What makes me undeniably sad is that he hasn't slept under any ones bed since he was deathly sick with anemia. He would crave to be in dark corners (like under our beds) to get away from the light, sound, and us, I know he is not deathly sick again but when I hear those things it triggers my past memories. On a happier note I will be reunited with my little love very soon which makes me so ecstatic!! I can't wait!

I am currently loving neutrals for spring and summer. As you know I am obsessed with white because it makes everyone look so clean and super tan. This is why I decided to pair a few of my favorite pieces from earlier posts and put them all into one outfit. I started off with my white skort and paired it with a white spaghetti strap top and my favorite light weight trench from H&M. The trench coat was a key piece because it's been pretty gloomy in LA the past few days so I didn't want to freeze my little tushy in the name of fashion. I added some gold accessories to bring this look together and some strappy heels to add some edge. Happy Hump Day!!!

XO,
Shirley
