David and I recently celebrated our one year anniversary and we decided to have a sort of staycation. I had seen many beautiful pictures of the Parker Palm Springs on my Instagram feed that I did a little more research and found myself in love with the property. I pitched the idea to my husband and at first he was sold but then I said no lets just stay home and save money for our trip to Italy next year (fingers crossed). We kept flip flopping back and forth until my husband took the initiative to call reservations ... they immediately offered him a promotion called the glutinous package which included a $250.00 food credit per room per night not including gratuity, taxes and alcohol. We were sold and decided to book the Estate room.
When we pulled up to the Parker we were immediately greeted by the warm and friendly staff. I finally opened the iconic orange doors and was blown away by the decor that awaited me on the other side. Every little inch of this property has been carefully and intricately put together to be a unique and out of this world experience, almost like a playground for adults. Everyone from the receptionist checking us in to the bellhop dropping off our luggage were so friendly and congratulated us on our wedding anniversary. We definitely felt the love!! When I walked through the doors of our home for the next two nights I was shocked at 1) how large our room was and 2) the beautiful set up of flowers, champs & chocolate with gold flakes. It truly was a beautiful surprise organized by my husband with the help of the Parker's concierge.
When I was not sleeping in our room or eating at Norma's I was lounging around at the Gene Autry pool. The atmosphere was so relaxing and the decor was so dreamy, Italian meets Chinese with lots of palm trees in between. We enjoyed some tapas at the pool and I discovered the famous Chucky, keep reading if you're intrigued!
Pool and Eats
The atmosphere at the pool was very tranquil and relaxing, not in the "stuffy boring grandparents" kind of way but in the "hipster fashion mavin reading a magazine by the pool" type of way. FYI thats exactly what I did. I caught up on my fashion reads as well as chit chatted with my husband. We enjoyed some of my favorite treats by the pool which were the assorted fruit plate and the non traditional ceviche which were both very cool and refreshing. To the right is the famous Chucky. Its a must try and perfect for beating the Palm Springs heat! I loved it so much it was the only drink I would order from the Lemonade bar. I can't even remember how many I had. This whole vacation should have been called drinks on drinks on drinks .... haha!! A girl needs to unwind from time to time and this was the perfect excuse and location to do so.
Getting Lost
Another reason why I love the Parker is because you feel like you're at a resort. The properties exterior seems to be inspired by Versailles, with intricate pathways enclosed by beautiful and abundant greenery that lead guests into secret pockets of well manicured lawns. It's such a treat to discover each and every one of these unique locations. I must admit I did get lost the first few times trying to find my room but I considered it a fun adventure and one I would do over and over again just for the pure magic of finding a new hidden treasure.
There is something to be said about well manicured grounds with pops of picture perfect bougainvillea. They add just the perfect amount of vibrance to such a spectacular property! All these things intertwined make the Parker the perfect desert oasis without actually feeling like your at the desert. If I had to rate my stay it would be 5 stars +++ because it was worth every bit of money spent and more!
I hope you really got a feel for what my stay was like and maybe this will inspire some of you to drop by the Parker and experience all of the magic first hand. If you've ever stayed at the Parker I would love to hear what your experiences were. There is another Palm Springs trip in the works for August and I can't wait to get back and experience more of the magic this beautiful city has to offer!! It feels so good to be back blogging again. Stay tuned for more!!
XO,
Shirley
